💖Healing Hearts | 3 Stories

We need never be hopeless because we can never be irreparably broken. Read the stories…

1. The Hidden Smile of Success

Mark Duplass, a filmmaker and actor, openly shared his lifelong battle with anxiety and depression. Despite a successful career and public smiles, Duplass revealed the real emotions hiding behind his expressions through social media. By sharing his struggles and the coping tools he uses, such as music and exercise, he not only found personal solace but also offered hope to others. His honesty brought widespread support, showing the power of vulnerability in breaking the stigma around mental health. [Source]

Lesson # 1: Don't be afraid to show your true self. Vulnerability can foster connection and understanding.

2. Connecting Through Loneliness

Libby, a companionship carer, witnessed and experienced deep loneliness, especially during the pandemic. Despite challenges from past traumatic events, she maintained her connections. By engaging in simple activities like puzzles and discussions about daily shows, she found strength. Keeping a positive mindset and staying proactive in nurturing relationships supported not only others but fortified her own mental health. [Source]

Lesson # 2: Small interactions can have significant impacts on mental well-being.

3. Resilience in the Shadows

After thriving through high school and medical school, a young doctor faced an unexpected challenge during residency. Just six weeks in, simple tasks became monumental struggles. Efficiency and sharp memory gave way to confusion and constant delays. Eventually diagnosed with depression, the doctor felt isolated and ashamed, fearing judgment from peers who might view the condition as a character flaw. Through the support of Physician Health Services and understanding from fellow physicians, the doctor found solace and strength, overcoming not only depression but later, colon cancer, with a newfound resilience. [Source]

Lesson # 3: Support systems can transform personal battles into paths of recovery.

😎School of Happiness | Live in the Moment

Ever feel like you're sleepwalking through life?

Yeah, us too.

Between the constant texts, social media notifications, and the pressure to plan for the future, staying present can feel like a superpower reserved for yogis and monks.

But guess what?

Being present is a skill ANYONE can learn, and it's the key to unlocking a happier, more fulfilling life!

Forget memorizing quadratic equations (seriously, who uses that?), this month's School of Happiness is all about mastering the art of living in the NOW.

Ready to ditch the autopilot mode?

Here's your Present Power 101:

👇Mindful Breathing

Slow, deep breathing is important… Pause and take a deep breath. Let it ground you.

👇Engage Your Senses

Right now, notice 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste. It’s a quick, effective way to snap back to reality.

👇Single-Task

Multitasking is out. Focus on doing one thing at a time. Eat when you eat. Listen when you listen. It sharpens your focus and enriches your experiences.

👇Remember This

Change how you see things, and the things you see will change. Adopt this view, and watch your life transform one moment at a time.
