✅ After Your Group Is Approved: First Steps for Group Leaders

Congratulations! Here’s your 7-step checklist to activate your group and start welcoming participants.

Step 1. Set Up Your Payout Method (Required)

⚠️ Participants cannot join your group until your payout method is set up.
  • Log in to MentalHappy → Go to Your Groups.
  • Select your approved group → open Profile/Settings.
  • Choose Payout Method → connect your account via Stripe.

What you’ll need:

  • Tax ID or Social Security Number
  • Bank account or debit card information
  • Valid address

Payout Details:

  • Stripe manages all payouts (MentalHappy does not hold funds).
  • Choose your payout schedule in Stripe (instant or 1–2 business days).
  • Contact Stripe support for payout issues.

Step 2. Confirm Group Pricing

  • Free
  • Donation-based
  • Subscription (monthly)
  • One-time payment (ideal for cohort/program groups)
💡 You can edit pricing later if no members have joined yet.

Step 3. Schedule Your First Session

  • Open Group Dashboard → Schedule a Session.
  • Choose One-Time or Recurring session.
  • Pick a convenient date/time (ideally within 7 days).
  • Add title, description, and agenda (e.g. “Welcome & Orientation”).
  • Publish → automatic reminders sent to participants.
💡 First session should be welcoming, test tech, and run 45–60 mins.

Step 4. Pin a Welcome Post

Create a pinned post introducing yourself, the group purpose, and how to participate. Include:

  • Friendly welcome
  • Group focus/purpose
  • Engagement prompt (introduce yourself & share what brings you here)
  • Reminder about guidelines

👋 Hello and welcome to [Group Name]! I’m [Your Name], your facilitator. This group is dedicated to [group purpose], and I’m excited to have you here.

To get started:
✅ Introduce yourself in the comments.
✅ Please review our group guidelines.

Our goal is to create a supportive, respectful community. I look forward to connecting with each of you!

Step 5. Share Your Group Link

How to find it:

  • Dashboard → Copy group link (public URL)
  • Dashboard → Invite via Email (fill form to send invite)

Where to share:

  • Social Media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Email & newsletters (mailing list or signature)
  • Direct outreach (clients, peers, colleagues)
  • Websites & blogs (bio or embed link)
💡 Encourage members to share it too (if group is public).

Step 6. Preview Your Group Page

  • Check cover image, description, and tags.
  • Ensure bio is accurate & professional.
  • Verify pricing, guidelines, and session details.
💡 You can edit settings if no one has joined yet.

Step 7. Stay Compliant

  • No direct messaging (leaders ↔ participants or between participants).
  • No outside service promotion (therapy, retreats, coaching).
  • Confidentiality is core — what’s shared stays in the group.
